This boundary has been created at 1:25,000 showing the Metropolitan Melbourne Investigation, for the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council. The Minister, under Section 15 of the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council Act 2001 required VEAC to carry out an investigation of the public land in Metropolitan Melbourne. The area investigated is the LGA's predominantly not covered by the Melbourne 1 and Melbourne 2 Studies.

This elevation data (1 m interval contours and 3 m DEM) was derived from the aerial photography that was captured as part of the 2006-7 CIP program covering Long Swamp area, South Australia.

The photography was digitally acquired using the Vexcel Ultracam D camera and includes 3 visible bands. The imagery has been fully orthorectified and tiled into 1km tiles. It is available in both TIFF and ECW compressed format.

This project collected high accuracy LiDAR data covering Central Highlands FMA plus Thomson Catchment Extension and Baw Baw extension. From the raw LiDAR data, a suite of elevation products was generated including 1m DEM. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is an airborne remote sensing technique for rapid collection of terrain data. The sensor used for this LiDAR project collected XYZ and Intensity data for first and last return by bouncing a pulse from the aircraft to the surface that enables the height and intensity values to be calculated.
