  Psyllid Affected Areas

dataset: PSYLLID25
Distribution and severity of psyllid infestation of selected Departmental Forest Blocks. This layer shows the distribution and severity of psyllid infestation of selected Forest Blocks. This is an interim layer awaiting the formation of the Psyllid Working Group.

Description

Title
Psyllid Affected Areas
Alternate title
PSYLLID25
Purpose
PSYLLID25 is used to target areas affected psyllids when planning control works and monitoring programs. This layer may be overlayed with temperature, rainfall, elevation and aspect to determine correlations and to facilitate predictive modelling.

Supplemental Information
Relationship to other Datasets: Boundaries of polygons may follow line work contained in TOPO25, HYDRO25, ROAD25 and FOREST25. PSYLLID25 will be used with TOPO25 (elevation and aspect) and climatic data to determine correlations, if any. FOREST25 could be used to check accuracy of psyllid mapping as attacks usually occur in E.regnens. Current Design Issues: This layer has been simplified and contains only items and valid codes for which data is currently or is very likely to be available. Future Design Issues: This layer will be reviewed by the soon to be appointed Project Officer, Psyllid Working Group. Items that should be considered (according to Debbie Edwards and Darren McKinty) are: psyl_mort,3,3,I = Percentage of dead trees within the area due to psyllid attack fungi,1,1,I = Type of fungi (fungi.lut) fung_mort,3,3,I = Percentage of dead trees within the area due to fungal attack. psyl_age,1,1I = Age of psyllid (psyl_age.lut): egg, 1-5 larval instars and adult. Some tracking of origin of line work ie. TOPO25, HYDRO25 may need to be implemented as for BLOCK25. Creation of multiple layers to store history ie 1 per year but this may not be necessary in ARC/INFO Version 7. Related Documents: None

Statement
Dataset Source: Boundaries of polygons may follow line work contained in TOPO25, HYDRO25, ROAD25 and FOREST25. Dataset Originality: Primary & Derived
Description
Collection Method: Remote Sensed - Satellite Remote Sensed - Airborne Field Measurements Aerial Observation Aerial Photo Interpretation
Description
Currently all data has been capture using aerial observation. From the aircraft, the observer has mapped the infestation boundary and intensity onto a 1:25 000 topographic map with Forest Block boundaries clearly delineated. This data was then transferred onto a stable base and digitised pulling may of the lines from layers TOPO25, HYDRO25, ROAD25 and FOREST25.
